Applicability:
Green Tax is primarily applicable to diesel and petrol cars or bikes. If you own an electric or CNG vehicle, you are exempt from this tax. Both personal and commercial variants of vehicles are subject to this tax.
Norms and Liabilities:
Commercial Vehicles: Green tax applies to commercial vehicles if they are more than 8 years old.
Personal Vehicles: For personal vehicles, including bikes and cars, Green Tax is levied if the vehicle is older than 15 years.
Amount of Tax:
Keep in mind that Green Tax is usually charged as a percentage of a state’s road tax. This tax is payable when renewing the Registration Certificate (RC) or vehicle's registration.
